Cllr. J. Orson Mrs. Jenny Allsop 12 Members of the Public The Chairman welcomed everyone to the Meeting. He introduced Jenny Allsop. She gave an informative Talk and Slide Show on her knowledge of the archaeology and history of Grimston Church and surrounding area. She then asked the Councillors and members of the public for any questions and comments. Mrs. Laura Smith thanked Mrs. Jenny Allsop for her interesting Talk and she then left the Meeting. APOLOGIES - Cllr. Angrave MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETINGThe Minutes of the Meeting held on 30th April 2008 were approved and signed as a true record by Mr. Lomas. Proposed by Mr. Juba and seconded by Mrs. Grace. MATTERS ARISING The Chairman reported B.T. has informed the Parish Council the Phone Box in Grimston is to become card operated only. ADOPTION OF ACCOUNTSThe Accounts having been circulated, their adoption was proposed by Steve Smith and seconded by Rebecca Vickers. CHAIRMAN’S REPORTThe Chairman began by reporting at the beginning of the year John Davies resigned from the Parish Council and he thanked him for his service. He welcomed Laura Smith who has been co-opted to the Parish Council. He also thanked his fellow Parish Councillors, Cllrs. Angrave & Orson and P.C. Martin Taylor for their support and the Clerk for her hard work. He reported there had been 8 planning applications during the year plus the application for a wind turbine and footpath changes. The trees have been inspected by Leics. County Council’s Tree Surgeon and require no attention at present time but the Horse Chestnut Tree will be closely monitored. He stated a new street light has been erected on Main Street, Grimston, and work to the Stocks has now been completed. B.T. has been informed the Parish Council has decided to adopt Saxelbye Phone Box. He thanked Audrey Gibbins for litter picking. The Chairman asked for comments on a suggestion for a new street light on Shoby Lane and a volunteer to be Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator. The proposal of new street light on Shoby Lane was debated and decided not necessary. There was no volunteer for Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator. A member of public suggested Audrey Gibbins be Heritage Warden. Decided Clerk contacts Mrs. Gibbins. A member of the public commented Melton Borough Council should be congratulated on recent street cleaning in Grimston. Clerk to e-mail Paul Evans. ANY OTHER BUSINESS Mr. Arthurton commented the Footpath Waymark Sign down Shoby Lane, Grimston, was fixed at eye level and could easily penetrate the eye or head. Clerk to e-mail Leics. County Council to request put Sign at top of post. Copy of e-mail to be forwarded to Cllr. Orson. A member of the public asked for opinion on Google Street Scene. Mr. Lomas thanked everyone for attending and asked for suggestions for Guest Speaker at the Meeting next year. He then declared the Meeting closed. | |||
