UNAPPROVED MINUTESMINUTES OF THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING OF GRIMSTON, SAXELBYE AND SHOBY PARISH COUNCILHELD ON WEDNESDAY 30TH APRIL 2008 AT GRIMSTON

Dr. Erl Annesley 10 Members of the Public The Chairman welcomed everyone to the Meeting. He introduced Dr. Erl Annesley, Volunteer Worker of Citizens Advice Bureau. Dr. Annesley gave a Talk on the Citizens Advice Bureau. He reported the Bureau started in 1939 to give professional advice for underprivileged people. He said they give advice on a large variety of subjects but most common enquiries are regarding debt management, benefits, housing, consumer rights, family relationships and employment. He said the Bureau is funded by local grants and donations. He then asked the Parish Council and members of the public for any questions or comments. The Chairman thanked Dr. Annesley for his informative interesting Talk and he then left the Meeting. Mr. Easom then made a tribute to Alderman Chapman who died recently. He had been a dedicated County Councillor, true gentleman and loyal supporter of the Parish Council. He will be sadly missed. One minute’s silence was observed. APOLOGIES - Mrs. Sleath, Cllr. Orson MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETINGThe Minutes of the Meeting held on 30th April 2007 were approved and signed as a true record by Mr. Easom. CHAIRMAN’S REPORTMr. Easom began by saying it had been an interesting year. Grimston changing from Category 2 to Category 3 Village would be important change for Parish and has been welcomed by most residents of Grimston. There had been 9 Planning Applications in year plus amendments and several Applications to Work on Trees. Following the Annual Parish Meeting last year, enquires were made regarding the Play Area and it had been agreed by ROSPA and the Environmental Health Dept. the surface was safe and not a health hazard. It is now regularly raked and sprayed with Jeyes Fluid. He reported the White Posts in Saxelbye have been reinstated and apologised for the condition of the Stocks. Grants have been approved for the White Posts and Stocks. He thanked his fellow Parish Councillors for their support and the Clerk for her hard work. The Chairman then asked if there were any questions or comments. Comments were made the Telephone Boxes in Grimston and Saxelbye require painting. The Clerk reported she had contacted B.T. regarding the state of Grimston kiosk and would get back to them. Mr. Davies commented the Play Area safety surface had been debated after the Annual Parish Meeting last year and he proposed it should be replaced. Mr. Morris thanked Mrs. Gibbins for litter picking. MATTERS ARISING - None ADOPTION OF ACCOUNTSThe Accounts having been circulated, their adoption was proposed by Tony Moore and seconded by Laura Smith. ANY OTHER BUSINESS Melton & Rutland Spring Clean Week - Commencing 19th May. Decided Parish should take part. Clerk to contact Melton Borough Council. Heritage Warden. The Chairman asked for volunteer. Mr. Easom thanked everyone for attending and then declared the Meeting closed. | |||
