of the Meeting held on the 24th February 2004 were approved
and signed. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST The Members
had no interests to declare at this stage. MATTERS ARISING Sign for Green –The
Sign has now been made and Ray Barratt will install on The Green this
week. Parish Council agreed £30.00 donation to be made to Asfordby
Church for sign-writing. Ray Barratt to inform
Clerk of his expenses. Contact Sign for Play Area - Agreed Clerk purchase small suitable Sign to be displayed on timber pole of Swing. Street
Light, Shoby Lane Grimston – The
light is working at present. Clerk
has asked ABB Ltd. to
instruct EMEB to cut back Ivy on the pole. CORRESPONDENCE The following items were brought to the attention of the Council:- Asfordby Parish Council - Minutes of Meeting of Parish Councils in Melton Borough. Circulated. LARAPLC - Interim Management Arrangements. Office is now 41 High Street, Sileby LARAPLC - Update & Event Notification. Agreed Clerk would attend Audit Briefing on 25th May at Melton Council Offices. Cost £5.00. The Standards Board. Consultation Papers on Local Investigation of Allegations of Misconduct. The Standards Board. Code of Conduct - Applying for a Review of a Referral Decision. Boundary Committee for England. Periodic Review of Leics. County Council - Draft Recommendations. Melton Borough Council – Advice Day to Improve Benefit Take Up. Notices displayed on Notice Boards. DEFRA – Broadband to rural communities. Passed to Mr. Morris. Leics. County Council. Waste Management Service – Best Value Review. Questionnaire to be completed by Chairman. Borough Council (Community Facilities Small Grants) £453.40 PLANNING MATTERS 12 Main Street, Saxelbye. Proposed Ground Floor Kitchen Extension along with WC and Hall. Conversion of Existing Garage into bedroom ensuite. (04/00133/FUL) The Parish Council has no objections but agreed the Clerk write to Melton Borough Council commenting they are concerned the Application to build above the garage will overlook the neighbouring property. Black Horse, Grimston. Proposed New Dining Area and Internal Operations to provide Disabled Access & Disabled Toilets. (04/00187/FUL) The Application was discussed in detail. The Member of the Public commented on parking problems, possible noise problems and loss of privacy for neighbours. It was agreed the Clerk write to Melton Borough Council stating they are very concerned regarding parking. Parking is insufficient at present and the proposed extension will increase the number of vehicles. The Parish Council is also concerned for loss of privacy for one neighbour. The Chairman thanked the Member of the Public for attending and then left the Meeting. The Cottage, 19 Main Street, Grimston. Construction of 2 storey extension & alterations to some of existing property. (04/00199/FUL & 04/00200/LBC). The Parish Council has no objections but were concerned about parking. There is a shortage of off street parking in the vicinity. Site Meeting to be arranged. Melton Local Plan – Employment and the Local Economy Statement of Consultation. Circulated. Melton Borough Council - Possible Second Seminar/Workshop on Planning. Clerk to write to Planning Dept. stating the Parish Council would be interested in attending Planning Seminar later in the year. OTHER BUSINESS The Chairman reported he attended the Official Opening of the Customer Service Centre at Melton Borough Council. Mrs. Sleath stated the Spring is in a bad state and needs cleaning out urgently. The Parish Councillors to liase. Mrs. Sleath stated the Stocks require attention. The bottom piece of wood is rotten and needs replacing. Decided to put on Agenda of next Meeting. Mr. Morris commented on the big crack in the corner of the Old School at Saxelbye. The Parish Council agreed a donation should be made to help with repairs. Decided to discuss at next Meeting. Mrs. Sleath stated The Greens require mowing.
