SHOBY PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER 2006 AT GRIMSTON

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING

The Minutes of the Meeting held on 21st August 2006 were approved and signed.

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

The Members had no interests to declare at this stage.

MATTERS ARISING

White Posts, Saxelbye - Clerk reported the Posts will be covered by the existing Insurance Policy for liability damage.  Must be regularly maintained and inspected weekly.  Mr. Morris agreed to inspect the posts.  Agreed the posts should be oak with reflectors and painted white and that the Parish Council will pay the extra cost for oak.  Clerk to inform Mr. Sheldrake.

Play Area Safety Surface - Agreed Nathan should continue to rake the surface weather permitting.  

Dog Fouling  - Clerk reported Notices have been displayed on the Notice Board and Village Life regarding dog fouling on Shoby Lane.

Letter of complaint has been received regarding sheep manure on the pavements of Main Street, Grimston.

The letter requests Notices be displayed on Notice Board and Village Life and that the letter be recorded in the Minutes. Decided Clerk writes to complainant stating the comments have been noted and the Parish Council will monitor the situation.

Brooksby Quarry - Clerk attended Public Exhibition held at Hoby and circulated information & plan.

Trees - Chairman reported on information received from Leics. County Council offering free trees to Tree Wardens.   Decided to file for future reference.

CORRESPONDENCE

The following items were brought to the attention of the Council:-

Melton Borough - Littering & dog fouling offences.  Decided Parish Council order 3 stickers to be put on litter bins.

Melton Borough Council  - Community Check.  Passed to Village Hall Committee.

Leics. County Council - Mobile Library Services.  Passed to Mrs. Easom for reference.

Leics. County Council - County Service at All Saints Parish Church, Narborough.

LARAPLC - September Update.

Rural Community Council - AGM.

Parish Council Liaison Meeting - 28th September at Council Offices.  Chairman or Mr. Davies to attend.

Leics. Police Authority Consultation Evening - 16th November at Police Headquarters, Enderby.

PLANNING MATTERS

 

The Old Goods Yard, Grimston Station, Saxelbye  (Application No. 06/00702/FUL) -  Pending consideration.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

The Chairman reported the Play Area hedge has been trimmed.

The Chairman reported 3 Posts on Green in front of the Black Horse need repairing, cleaning down and painting.  The owners of the pub have offered to carry out work.  Agreed Parish Council responsibility and Chairman to ask Tony Best to undertake work.

Mr. Davies reported he is looking into Village Connect Magazine being delivered to Grimston.

Mr. Davies commented he is looking through the estimates received for new Play Area Safety Surfacing and would like to discuss further at future meeting.

The Chairman stated the Bus Shelter on The Green, Grimston, needs repairing.  Decided Chairman liaises with Tony Best to carry out work and Nathan to help with digging.

The Chairman & Clerk organising Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 29th September at Grimston Village Hall.
