MINUTES OF A MEETING OF GRIMSTON, SAXELBYE AND SHOBY PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON THURSDAY 24TH JUNE, 2004 AT GRIMSTON PRESENT Mr. E. Morris

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING The Minutes
of the Meeting held on the 18th May 2004 were approved and
signed. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST The Members
had no interests to declare at this stage. MATTERS ARISING GAP
Fundraising – The
Chairman thanked Mrs. Townsend for attending tonight’s Meeting.
He commented that wooden benches at ‘dog walk length’ around
the village were a suggestion for funds raised by GAP.
Mr. Easom stated it is not advisable for GAP to raise money
unless they have a specific purpose for the funds raised.
Mrs. Townsend stated benches were a good idea and she would
discuss with Mr. Gant (Chairman of GAP).
Decided put on Agenda for next Meeting. ROSPA
Inspection of Play Area – The
Clerk reported on the Play Area Safety Inspection Report by ROSPA.
There were several items requiring attention.
Decided Clerk arranges Site Meeting as soon as convenient for
Chairman and Mr Lomas. The
Spring - Decided
will visit at same time as Play Area Site Meeting. The
Stocks
– The Chairman reported he is waiting for Mr. Senior to contact him
regarding estimate. Saxelbye
Notice Board –
Decided Clerk to obtain Brochures and prices for new Notice Board. Repairs to Old School, Saxelbye – Cllr. Chapman reported he has arranged Meeting at Saxelbye with Dr. Chris Brooke (0116 2657063) Leics. County Council Restoration of Historic Buildings, on Thursday 1st July at 2.30 pm. The Chairman to attend. The Chairman reported the decorating of the School is to be completed and the Parish Council will be invoiced later for their kind donation. Cllr. Chapman also stated Dr. Brooke might be able to help with Stocks repairs. Melton On Line Workshop – The Clerk reported on Workshop attended and that she has arranged for our Website to be linked with Melton On Line Parish Councils’ Website. CORRESPONDENCE The following items were brought to the attention of the Council:- Note of thanks from Tony Fowler. Countryside Agency – Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. Extract of provisional map. Decided Clerk obtains 5 copies of Map for reference. Melton Borough Council Waste Management Officer. Asking Parish Council to identify areas of narrow pavement that may become blocked when Monday garden waste collection service gets behind. Agreed no problem areas. LAPLC - June Update. Melton Borough Parish Councils Forum Agenda & Minutes 29th June at 7.00 pm at Council Offices. Chairman and Mrs. Sleath to attend. Leics. County Council – Annual Meeting of Parish & Local Councils & County Council on 30th June. Chairman to attend. Special Meeting of Melton Borough Council Overview & Scrutiny Meeting at Asfordby Parish Hall on Thursday 22nd July at 6.30 pm. Clerk to enquire if Mr. Davies able to attend. OTHER BUSINESS The Chairman reported there is a deep pothole on Ostlers Lane, Saxelbye (300 yards nearer Saxelbye than last pothole reported). Clerk to inform Divisional Engineer. Mrs. Sleath reported the hedge needs cutting near Play Area. Agreed Chairman asks Tony Best to cut hedge. Mrs. Sleath reported a dog is fouling everywhere on Shoby Lane. Mr. Easom to informally approach owner of dog and point out it is against local byelaws to foul highway within restricted speed limits. DATE AND VENUE OF NEXT MEETING Tuesday, 27th
