MINUTES OF A MEETING OF GRIMSTON, SAXELBYE AND SHOBY PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING

The Minutes of the Meeting held on 13th February 2006 were approved and signed.

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

The Members had no interests to declare at this stage.

MATTERS ARISING

Work on Trees & The Stocks – The Clerk has arranged a Site Meeting on Wednesday 22nd March at 10.30 am with Mr. Spooner, Conservation Officer.

Bus Shelters -  Mr. Best has now completed repairs to the Bus Shelter at Saxelbye.  The Clerk submitted various brochures and reported partnership funding for new bus shelters should be available from

Leics. County Council.   Agreed Clerk enquires at Britannia Sheds Ltd., Langar, regarding making suitable Bus Shelter and Richard Sleath to inspect and give quote for repairing both Bus Shelters in Grimston.  Decided to ask opinion of need for Bus Shelter on Green at Annual Parish Meeting.       

Saxelbye Notice Board  - Agreed Clerk purchase Oak 2 bay notice board (1 bay glazed/lockable) with green header and gold lettering ‘PARISH NOTICES’ from Greenbarnes Ltd.

N.E.M.A. -  Public Exhibition to be held at Melton Council Offices on 5th April 3.00 pm – 7.00 pm.    To discuss further at next Meeting.

Annual Parish Meeting -  Lynn Aisbett, Chief Executive of Melton Borough Council has agreed to attend Annual Parish Meeting on Wednesday 26th April at 7.30 pm. and Clerk reported she would like to know of any particular points to discuss.  Decided Listed Buildings should be discussed.

Decided Clerk informs C.A.B. Parish Council would like them to attend Meeting later in year.

CORRESPONDENCE

The following items were brought to the attention of the Council:-

Melton Borough Council – Fly Tipping.  Clerk to report abandoned tyres on Perkins Lane, Grimston. 

Mr. Lomas asked for Fly Tipping to be put on Agenda of next Meeting re. debris from contractors erecting new signs on Shoby Bends.

Melton Borough Council – Mayor’s Award of Merit & Mayor’s Young Citizen Award.

Leics. County Council – Appointment of Heritage Warden & Archaeological Warden.  Agreed Mr. Chapman be appointed.

Leics. County Council – Consultation of Leics. Statement of Community Involvement.  Circulated.

Rural Community Council – Carers Support Team & Rural Stress Support Team.

Leics. County Council – Review of Library Services for Rural Areas Consultation.  Passed to Mrs. Easom.

Leics. Youth Offending Services.  – Not relevant.

Local Works – Sustainable Communities Bill Public Meeting.

Local Channel – Website for Parish Councils.

Leics. County Council – Draft Rights of Way Improvement Plan.  Circulated for comments.

Leics. County Council – Consultation on proposals to develop day services for disabled people.

Melton Borough Council –  The Parish Councillors present signed the Updated Register of Members’ Interests Forms.  Clerk to return completed forms to Melton Borough Council.

PLANNING MATTERS

Village Envelope Consultation  - Clerk has now completed Statement.  Copies to be sent to Melton Borough Council, everyone who made comments and put on website.

Evaluation Meeting to be held at Council Offices on Wednesday 5th April at 7.00 pm.

Melton Local Development Framework  - Sport & Recreation Discussion Paper.  Questionnaire completed.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Grass Verges on Shoby Lane will need re-instating when building work completed at Windy Ridge.

Parish Council to monitor.
