MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF GRIMSTON, SAXELBYE ANDSHOBY PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY 18TH JUNE 2007 AT SAXELBYEPRESENTMr.

Chairman welcomed Cllr. Angrave & P.C. Taylor to the Meeting.

Taylor reported there had been very little crime in the village.
He stated he had put an article in Village Life and could be
contacted by email. Cllr. Angrave reported on
grass cutting and planning procedures. Mr. Morris commented grass verges at Shoby Cross Roads should be cut back further for safety. Clerk to contact Cllr. Orson. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETINGThe
Minutes of the Meeting held on 14th May 2007 were approved and
signed. DECLARATIONS OF INTERESTThe Members had no
interests to declare at this stage.
MATTERS ARISINGTrees
- Clerk reported Julian Simpson from Leics. County Council will be
inspecting Horse Chestnut Tree within next 2 weeks.
Parish Councillors to arrange informal site meeting on Village Green
to decide if there is a suitable location for new tree to be planted. Play
Area - Clerk reported ROSPA had carried out Annual Safety Inspection and
only minor repairs required. Damaged
fencing, goal post socket not flush & algae on paths.
Passed report to Mr. Lomas for attention. Safety Surface was satisfactory. Mrs. Sleath circulated
lettter and photographs from Mr. Davies pointing out the poor condition of
the Safety Surface. (See
letter) Clerk
stated there were several Grants available for possible funding and a new
estimate had been received from Wicksteed for rubber matting.
After discussion the Parish Council decided, as ROSPA had recommended
the surface was satisfactory, it would be a waste of money to replace at the
present time. Nathan to
continue to regularly weed and fork the surface.
Will discuss further after the ROSPA inspection next year.
Street Light by Bus Shelter, Grimston - Mrs. Sleath reported Mr. Tomlinson will paint rusty column if Parish Council supply loading bucket or ‘cherry picker’. Parish Councillors decided they would not be covered for insurance. Mr. Morris suggested Clerk contacts John Young. Bus Shelter, Saxelbye - Repairs have been completed. Tony Best to erect new waste bin. New Model Code of Conduct - Clerk circulated Guide and Pocket Book. Must be adopted by 1st October. Decided will discuss at next Meeting Closure of Perkins Lane & Main Street Grimston - Clerk reported re-surfacing will take place mid July and Leics. County Council has informed residents of diversion route. Signs will be put up 2 weeks in advance. White Posts - Clerk reported Leics. County Council has made arrangements for purchasing, installing and painting and will take place before end of summer. Mr. Morris requested posts should be 10” x 10” diameter and not 8” x 8” as previously agreed. Clerk to contact Mr. Sheldrake to enquire if not too late to change order. by Red House, Grimston - Mrs. Sleath reported overgrown with nettles &
long grass. Clerk to report to
Leics. County Council.
Main Street & Perkins
Lane Name Signs - Complaint
received rusty and need replacing. Parish
Council will look at Signs in Parish and discuss further. Mr. Morris reported corner
of ceiling has been plastered and the end of the roof jacked up at Saxelbye
