MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF GRIMSTON, SAXELBYE AND

SHOBY PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY 17TH  JULY 2006 AT GRIMSTON

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING

The Minutes of the Meeting held on 12th June 2006 were approved and signed.

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

The Members had no interests to declare at this stage.

MATTERS ARISING

Re-Cycling Bins  -  Neighbour of the Village Hall complained about the removal of the recycling bins.  He asked why the bins had been removed, when and by whom had the bins been monitored and

that the parishioners should have been consulted before the Parish Council made a decision on the removal?  Cllr. Angrave replied .  He explained that re-cycling at the doorstep should be sufficient.  He reported on the assisted collection service and suggested contact Paul Coates, Melton Borough Council Refuse Education Officer to assess need and educate. The Clerk commented ‘Mini Recycling Sites in the Borough’ had been put on the Agenda of the Parish Council Meeting held on 12th June.  Cllr. Angrave stated if there is a great need for the site it could be replaced but it will cost money.

Play Area Safety Inspection - Mr. Lomas reported the minor repairs required have now been carried out.

Play Area Safety Surface - The Clerk reported on the Estimates obtained for rubber safety matting and wet pore surface.  Decided the estimates should be kept on file for future reference but no need to consider replacing the surface at the present time.  Mr. Easom to ask Nathan to continue raking the surface twice per week and Parish Council to monitor.

PLANNING MATTERS

Cedar Lodge, 27 Main Street, Grimston - (Application No. 06/00472/FUL) Erection of one dwelling & garage.  Melton Borough Council site meeting took place last Friday and to be considered at Development Meeting tomorrow night.  Mr. Easom to speak on behalf of Parish Council supporting Planning Officers recommendation for refusal.

Beech Cottage, 10 Main Street, Grimston - Consent to Work on Trees received. 

Land off Loughborough Road, Shoby - (Application No. 06/00398/REM)  Construction of stable barn and all weather exercise area together with provision of mobile home staff accommodation.  Approval of Reserved Matters received.

VILLAGE SPRING

The Chairman reported the Spring needs cleaning out.  Decided Clerk contact Tony Best to carry out work.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

The Chairman reported big pot hole on Shoby Lane beyond the dryer on Shoby side.  Clerk to contact Highways Dept.

Village Green Parking - Complaints have been received of cars parking on the Village Green.  Request by neighbour for Parish Council to issue slips to be placed on window screens.  Decided Clerk prints notices stating “IN FUTURE PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE VILLAGE GREENS”.  Chairman to circulate to neighbours to put on offending vehicles. 

Complaints have also been received of cars parking dangerously on corner near Black Horse.  Chairman reported she had contacted P.C. Taylor but very little could be done.
