MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF GRIMSTON, SAXELBYE AND

SHOBY PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON M0NDAY 16TH JUNE 2008 AT GRIMSTON

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING

The Minutes of the Meeting held on 8th May 2008 were approved and signed.

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

The Members had no interests to declare at this stage.

MATTERS ARISING

Election of New Parish Councillor  - The Clerk reported the Notice of Vacancy has been displayed on the Parish Notices Boards.  If a request for an Election (by 10 persons registered as electors for the Parish) has not been made to Melton Borough Council by 20th June, the Parish Council fills the vacancy by co-option.

Saxelbye Telephone Box - Letter has been sent to Melton Borough Council objecting to the removal of the phone box.  Chairman reported on Alan Duncan’s visit to Saxelbye and letters M.P. has sent to OFCOM and BT Centre suggesting local communities ‘adopt’ their red phone boxes.

Footpaths -  Mrs. Sleath reported on litter on the footpath by Red House and enquired who is responsible for clearing and enforcement.  Cllr. Orson suggested Clerk contacts Victoria Clarke of Environmental Health Dept.for update on position with littering in community. 

Play Area - Clerk reported the Safety Inspection has been carried out by ROSPA but the Report has not yet been received.  Chairman commented he has raked and weeded the Safety Surface.

Woodhall Transport  - Reply has not been received to letter regarding damage to Village Green. Cllr. Orson suggested Clerk writes requesting reply within 14 days or the matter will be taken further.  Agreed.

Melton West Community Forum.  Clerk sent apologies to first Public Meeting.

The Clerk reported the Internal Audit has been completed by Mr. Rhodes.  Agreed Clerk purchases bottle of whisky for Mr. Rhodes.

PLANNING MATTERS

Scholes Farm, Loughborough Road, Shoby (Application No. 08/00418/GDOAGR).  Agricultural Determination Form.  For information only. 

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Mr. Morris reported on complaint received regarding Milk Lorry delivering to Tony Fowler at 4.30 am every Saturday, creating noise problems for up to 1 hour and blocking access.  Decided Chairman will contact Mr.Fowler and report back to next Meeting.

Clerk reported received complaint grass verge on Ostlers Lane has been mowed except outside Rosary Farm.

Highways Dept has been contacted several times by email and telephone but difficult to get response now all calls are through Customer Services.  Decided Clerk contacts Highways again by email and telephone and asks next time contractors are in area they use strimmer if bank is too steep to mow.

Mr. Morris commented deep hole at Shoby Cross Roads at  ‘stop line’ has still not been repaired.  Clerk to remind Highways.
