DECLARATIONS OF INTERESTThe Members had no interests to declare at this stage. MATTERS ARISINGFootpath Spraying - County Highways have been informed and will commence weed spraying in north east area of Leics. week starting 26th August. Saxelbye Phone Box - Will discuss at next Meeting when details of adopting have been received. Woodhall Transport - Clerk to chase up reply and report back at next Meeting. CORRESPONDENCE The following items were brought to the attention of the Council:- LARALC - Melton Branch Meeting on 2nd September. Clerk to attend. August Newsletter circulated. Melton Borough Council - Parish Liaison Agenda Setting Meeting. Notes and supporting documents circulated. Melton Community Partnership - “Have your Say” on 18th September at Working Men’s Club. Leics. Together - Launch of the new Leics. Performance Framework 2008 - 2013. Circulated. Government Office for the East Midlands - East Midlands Regional Plan (Regional Spatial Strategy). Secretary of State’s proposed changes published for consultation. File. Rural Community Council AGM 25th September. Mr. Easom proposed and Mrs. Sleath seconded vote to re-elect Mrs. Anne Dames as Trustee and Mrs. Sleath proposed and Mr. Morris seconded vote for Mrs. Elaine Holmes to be Trustee. Agreed. Booklets Handed Out:- Rural Community Council Annual Review Clerks & Councils Direct ACCOUNTS Current Account £1437.34 Deposit Account £4047.74 Cheques signed as follows:- Summerland Contractors £ 38.00 E-On (July Payment) £ 14.89 Clement Keys (Annual Audit) £ 58.75 PLANNING MATTERS Metronet Rail (Application No. 08/00609/FUL). Upgrading and Electrification of the Railway Test Track. The Parish Council has no observations. Shoby Priory, Shoby (Application No. 08/00616/FUL & 08/00617/LBC). Demolish 20C extensions and associated alterations. The Parish Council agreed to support the application. STREET LIGHTING The Clerk reported the electric has now been put underground and the pole and street light in hedge by Mrs. Grace’s has been removed. Central Networks has stated Parish Council must now adopt wooden pole for street light down passage by Council Houses and pole by Tony Best’s house or replace with new lighting columns at £250.00 plus VAT. Parish Council decided will inspect condition of wooden poles and discuss at next Meeting. WORK ON TREES Mrs. Sleath stated May Tree on War Memorial needs pruning while in leaf. Mr. Morris stated Horse Chestnut Tree needs checking for running Canker. Decided Clerk instructs Paul Ford to prune May Tree and inspect Horse Chestnut Tree and report back at next Meeting. PARISH COUNCIL VACANCY The Parish Council co-opted Laura Smith. Chairman to contact Laura and Clerk to inform Melton Borough Council. ANY OTHER BUSINESS Mrs. Sleath reported fence needs repairing at Play Area and the hedge needs inspecting. Decided Chairman to arrange Site Meeting of Play Area and Street Lights when convenient before next Meeting. Clerk to contact Joe Gant regarding new net for football post. Complaints received of drains blocked on Main Street. Mrs. Sleath to check and report to Clerk. Complaint received rubble dumped on grass verge on road to Ab Kettleby from Asfordby. Clerk to inform Melton Borough Council. The Chairman commented on a wet morning recently 6 cars went into the ditch in 2 hours on Shoby Bends. Clerk to Minute for future reference.
